ICCO
International Communications Consultancies Organisation. Global association of the national organizations of leading PR agencies. The Association of PR Agencies in Switzerland BPRA is a member of ICCO. The ICCO ethical code of conduct is therefore binding for all BPRA member agencies.
Image transfer
Transfer of a brand image from one dialog group to another by means of PR and advertising instruments, e.g. of a food brand for vegetarians to all people looking for healthy food. Transfer of the corporate image to the image of the subsidiaries.
Integrated communication
Zeitgeist term, born from the unrealistic idea that all disciplines of corporate communication (CI/CD, PR, advertising, dialog marketing, sales promotion, sponsoring, product placement) are perfectly in harmony in order to render efficient profits.
Internal relations
The systematic grooming of relationships between management and employees, their relatives and former employees. Identical to the term human relations. Means for internal relations are e.g. employee events, bulletin board, intranet, employee magazine, recommendation and improvement system.
Intranet
Company internal information platform based on Internet technology.
Investor Relations
Communication activities with the dialog group of investors as expected of companies listed on the stock exchange. Encompasses going public, active tending of the development of quotations, ad hoc publicity, relations of the CFO with financial analysts and of the CEO with business journalists, reporting routines (annual report, semi-annual report, letter to shareholders, investors' website, financial media briefing, conferences for financial analysts, and road shows).
IPRA
International Public Relations Association. Established 1949, accredited by UNESCO, global association of PR professionals, aiming to further the exchange of experience, the enhancement of quality, and professional development. Issued in 1965, the Code of Athens as a binding ethical guideline for all IPRA members.
ISO 9001:2000
European standard of certification for quality management systems. An external certification body periodically conducts audits to establish whether the quality management of a company complies with the criteria as defined in the EN 45012 standard. Within the normative range of ISO 9001, the ISO 9001:2000 standard demands rigorous compliance.
Issues Management
The identification of potential conflict of corporate behavior by means of systematic monitoring of media and public opinion, and the development of an early warning system. Issues management enables companies to be prepared well in advance whenever public opinion develops in a way that may conflict with the company's interests.
